Meet Deanna!

Job Title: Nurse Manager- Macomb

How long have you been with IVF Michigan & Ohio Fertility Centers?
23 years!

What inspired you to pursue a career in your field?
Since Nursing school, I always had an interest in working in women’s health and thought I might pursue working in labor and delivery. I wanted to gain some general experience after graduation and started my career on a medical/surgical unit. I came across the opportunity to apply to IVF Michigan and quickly became passionate about the challenges to parenthood and helping our patients in the many facets of their journey!

Can you share a memorable moment or achievement from your time at IVF Michigan?
One of the most memorable times for me was when I was expecting my first child while working in our Dearborn location. The outpouring of kindness and excitement for me from our patients was truly genuine and heartfelt! I was humbled by such generosity of baby gifts and well wishes while our patients were on such an emotional journey of their own! I truly enjoy the rapport we have the opportunity to develop with people. The impact we can help make on them is as rewarding as the things they teach us!

Can you describe a recent project or task you worked on that you’re particularly proud of?
My many years at IVF Michigan have enabled me to learn such a great deal and work through so many experiences and settings. This is something I have been able to share and help implement in the training of many nurses. I am proud to be a resource for staff when I can and help implement the confidence that our role as nurses at IVF allows.

Can you describe your role and what you do on a daily basis to support our mission?
Our daily role as cycling nurses encompasses such a variety of things from lab draws, ultrasounds, patient education, and so much more. In order to support our mission, I know our care should be delivered with the kindness and the professionalism our patients deserve. I hope to be the liaison our patients need and provide education so help their process. I know their needs may be ever changing and evolving and we as nurses need to listen and offer that extra something that will put them at ease!

Can you share a fun fact about yourself that your colleagues might not know?
When I was a child, I would somersault all the time!!! I would travel through my house just tumbling away! I would challenge my friends to somersault relays and never got dizzy! Once in a while, I still break one out for fun but my racing days of these are over!!

What is your favorite food?
A Filet with a side of veggies and some potatoes!

In what ways has the employee positively impacted the workplace or gone above and beyond in their role?
Deanna is a longtime employee (20+ years) who is a very hard worker, and always goes the extra mile for her patients. I have heard her talk on the phone for over 30 min to reassure an anxious patient; stays extra late at the office to get the work done; leads a great team at the busy Macomb office; and does all this in spite of many family demands in her life. She has the biggest heart, and exemplifies what a caring IVF MI/Ohio nurse is.

How has this employee contributed to improving our workplace environment or company culture?
Deanna is a positive leader and leads by example, working hard at all times. She is a great leader at the Macomb office.

Deanna is a positive role model and example for other nurses, and her patients love her.
