Meet Marlene!
Job Title: Medical Records Supervisor
How long have you been with IVF Michigan & Ohio Fertility Centers?
March 22
What inspired you to pursue a career in your field?
I was provided an opportunity fresh out of high school with zero knowledge of the medical records field or the importance of it. I could never have known that I would take what seemed like a once in a lifetime opportunity to and literally work my way up. There’s a balance of working with patients but also being in the background.
Can you share a memorable moment or achievement from your time at IVF Michigan?
A memorable achievement from my time at IVF Michigan, is when I was promoted to supervisor. I started in medical records at 18 years old knowing nothing and having no formal educational backing in the field. I literally built up my experience and a chance was taken on me solely because of that on-the-job experience. I am forever grateful for Jill and Michelle seeing something in me.
Can you describe a recent project or task you worked on that you’re particularly proud of?
I have recently taken on the task of the EMR conversion project, although we have a way to go, we are making progress in getting every site positioned for this change.
Can you describe your role and what you do on a daily basis to support our mission?
For our patients to be whether they have successfully conceived with us or have to move on to another facility, I make sure the process of the continuation of care paperwork is processed as quickly as possible. Emotions run high at times, because not everyone’s experience is the same, so I do my diligence to make sure that when and if PHI needs to be released that it’s not a task that needs to be cumbersome for the patient.
Can you share a fun fact about yourself that your colleagues might not know?
I know every song from the movie Dream girls.
What is your favorite food?
Pizza!
In what ways has the employee positively impacted the workplace or gone above and beyond in their role?
Marlene has been helping with the transition and scanning all the charts from all records for the upcoming EMR system, while also still having other duties that she must complete. She has always stepped up when other tasks need to be completed, or offered to learn to help out her coworkers.
How has this employee contributed to improving our workplace environment or company culture?
Marlene is always willing to help and be a team player! She is always problem solving on how to make our medical record process more organized. She keeps us organized so we can focus on patient care. She is a delight to be around.
