Testicular Sperm Aspiration (TESA) is a minor procedure that typically takes 5-10 minutes under sedation. TESA is generally an option for men with Obstructive Azoospermia where it is expected that sperm will be found easily. During the procedure, sperm is directly removed from the testes to be used in an IVF-ICSI cycle. With over 60 years of collective experience and locations in Bloomfield Hills, Ann Arbor, Dearborn, Saginaw and Toledo, OH, the physicians of IVF Michigan Fertility Center are available to help couples throughout the Midwest and abroad.
Is TESA an option for me if I have Non-Obstructive Azoospermia?
Men with Obstructive Azoospermia have a higher chance of success with TESA than men with Non-Obstructive Azoospermia. For men with Non-Obstructive Azoospermia, an alternative to TESA is the Micro-TESE procedure which is an invasive procedure utilized to locate sperm in localized areas in the testes.
